Since 1997,
our 501c3 non-profit Foundation has been providing funding
assistance to local agencies that provide valuable services
to protect and to promote our quality of life here in Salisbury
and Rowan County.
Funds for the Foundation were secured through
a gift of assets from the sale of the Credit Bureau of Rowan
County. Income derived from the assets is used to provide
capital for the charitable endeavors of the Foundation.
Requests for distribution of funds are
accepted on or before April 1 and October 1 by the Executive
Director of the Foundation. The Board of Directors for Rowan
Business Alliance usually meets semi-annually to authorize
distributions.
A few of the previous recipients of Foundation
funding assistant include:
- Rowan County United Way “Day
of Caring”
- East Rowan and Salisbury YMCA’s
- Waterworks Visual Arts Center
- Meroney Theater
- Salisbury Choral Society
- Nazareth Children's Home
- Rowan Vocational Opportunities
- Rowan Helping Ministries
The Rowan Business Alliance has a non-discriminatory
policy on the distribution of funds, but uses several selection
criteria in the process. Emphasis is placed on recipients
doing charitable work in Salisbury and Rowan County, and based
on economic needs. Emphasis is also placed on religious, educational
and scientific funding requests received by the Board.
The Foundation has no members and depends
solely on tax-exempt donations from the public and from investment
earnings. The Foundation is managed by its Board of Directors.
